Catholicos of All Armenians Hosted President of Georgia

On April 29, 2025, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, hosted Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia, who was on an official visit to Armenia, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
The meeting was attended by Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the Mother See’s Department of External Relations and Protocol; Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia; and other officials.
Welcoming the President's visit to Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Armenian Patriarch touched upon the centuries-old friendship between the two peoples. His Holiness noted that throughout history, the Armenian and Georgian peoples have been able to overcome numerous difficulties and trials, preserving their national identity and character.
The Catholicos of All Armenians expressed appreciation for the mediation efforts made by the Georgian authorities towards the return of fifteen Armenian prisoners of war, as well as for their caring attitude towards the Armenian community in Georgia.
The Catholicos of All Armenians also conveyed his fraternal greetings and best wishes to His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.
President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, reflecting on his official visit to Armenia, expressed his satisfaction with its outcomes, highlighting the exceptional role of the Christian faith in preserving the spiritual, cultural, and national identity of both peoples, as well as in overcoming the challenges they have faced throughout history.
At the conclusion of the visit, President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, accompanied by clergy, visited the Mother Cathedral and became acquainted with the history of the newly renovated sanctuary.
