Youth Department of Armenian Diocese in Georgia Continues to Inspire and Unite

On November 1, 2025, within the framework of the program “Civic Dialogue and Practical Steps for Change 2025,” and with the support of the Jinishian Memorial Foundation as well as the blessing of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the Diocese’s Youth Department organized a visit to Tbilisi for 15 young people from the town of Ninotsminda in the Javakhk region. The purpose of the event was to help Armenian youth become acquainted with the capital’s historical and cultural landmarks, strengthen their integration into Georgian society, encourage their linguistic and cultural development, and foster a sense of civic responsibility as full members of the country’s community.

The program was conducted in Georgian, allowing participants to apply their knowledge of the state language in a practical setting.

The tour, led by Emil Sargsyan, Anna Mkrtichyan, and Edita Zohrabyan, coordinators of the Diocese’s Youth Department, began with visits to the St. Etchmiadzin Church in Avlabari and the Hayartun Educational, Cultural, and Youth Center. The young visitors from Ninotsminda paid their respects at the Khojivank Pantheon, where prominent Armenian writers and public figures are buried. They then explored Freedom Square, viewed the historic City Hall building, which today houses the Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Assembly), and continued their route through various landmarks.

The group also learned about the history of the Palace of Student Youth (formerly the Palace of Pioneers), viewed the Parliament of Georgia building, and visited the National Museum of Georgia. In the museum’s Hall of Occupation, they listened attentively, and with full understanding, to the Georgian-language narration of the guide about Georgia’s struggle for independence and the occupation of Abkhazia.

The final stop of the excursion was Hovhannes Tumanyan’s House-Museum. There, the young visitors learned not only about the poet’s life and Tbilisi residence but also about the invaluable contribution and lasting legacy of the Armenian people in the development of culture, architecture, and urban life in Georgia’s capital.

The day concluded in a warm and friendly atmosphere with a shared dinner, becoming a meaningful initiative that helped broaden the worldview of Javakhk’s youth, highlight the importance of dialogue, and support their integration into Georgian civil society.
