Sunday Divine Liturgy Dedicated to Holy Cross of Varag Feast

On September 28, 2025, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated the Feast of the Holy Cross of Varag, a unique feast dedicated to the Cross, observed only by the Armenian Church as a national ecclesiastical celebration. The churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia celebrated the feast with Divine Liturgies.

At the St. Echmiadzin Church in Avlabari, Tbilisi, under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Rev. Father Samvel Torosyan.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan reflected on the meaning of the day, the Feast of the Holy Cross of Varag, speaking about its history and delivering a sermon on the Cross as the sign of our salvation, hope, and reliance.

Honored guests present at the Liturgy included Kakha Labuchidze, majoritarian candidate for the Sakrebulo (City Assembly) from Tbilisi’s Isani district, Avlabari region, and Van Bayburtyan, an honorary citizen of Tbilisi and editor of the “Vrastan” (Georgia) newsletter.
