Service of Darkness at Saint George Cathedral and Holy Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi
On Holy Thursday, April 2, 2026, the Service of Darkness was held in the evening, a service associated with Good Friday, symbolizing the Crucifixion and Burial of the Lord.
In the churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, particularly at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi, during the service presided over by His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, the Gospel readings recalled Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, His betrayal, His humiliation, and Peter’s denial.
During the Service of Darkness, in the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi and the Holy Etchmiadzin Church of Avlabari, the reverend clergy, in their message, urged the faithful to make a vow of faithfulness to the Lord Jesus, to live with Christian love, and never to betray the Son of God.
The Service of Darkness was also held in other churches of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church.
