Intercessory Prayer at St. George Cathedral in Tbilisi

On April 24, 2025, on the commemoration day of one and a half million Armenian Genocide holy martyrs, at the Cathedral of Saint George, under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Intercessory prayer was offered in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Diplomats from the RA Embassy in Georgia, Armenian community members from Tbilisi, members of public organizations, intellectuals, and contemporaries of the victims of the Armenian Genocide were present at the Intercessory prayer.
The Diocesan Primate preached about the significance of the day. Reflecting on the early 20th-century chapters of Armenian history — the struggle for faith and homeland, the atrocities committed against the Armenian people through fire and sword, the martyrdom of one and a half million innocent victims, and the exile of a nation from its historic homeland — the Bishop spoke out about contemporary ways of commemorating the Genocide, the decreasing number of Armenians participating in remembrance events, and the flawed attitudes of denying condemnation and demands for justice. His Grace Bishop Kirakos urged everyone to honor the memory of the ancestors by recognizing and condemning all forms of genocide rooted solely in faith and national identity.
The Diocesan Primate urged those present to pray for the salvation of the nation, to implore protection of the motherland from the assaults and threats of a cruel and relentless enemy, and to seek the intercession of the one and a half million holy martyrs of the Armenian Genocide for the salvation of the people and for those who defend the homeland and its borders.
On April 24, memorial liturgies, protest actions, marches, and peaceful rallies took place in Armenian-populated cities and regions of Georgia.
