Candlelight Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint George of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia

On April 8, 2023, the evening of Holy Saturday, Candlelight Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the occasion of Glourios Resurrection of Jesus Christ at churches of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia… On that day, according to a special church ceremony, the lanterns and candles of the temple were lit, the curtain of church’s Holy Altar was opened, and a Divine Liturgy was celebrated with lit candles.

Rev. Father Archimandrite ZavenYazichyan, Pastor of Kvemo-Kartli region celebrated Divine Liturgy under the presidency of the Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan, at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi.

During the Divine Liturgy, the celebrant touched upon the mystery of Glourios Resurrection of Jesus Christ mentioning in particular that without the miracle of the Resurrection Christ's sacrifice, His sufferings, His crucifixion, and His death, could not have meaning. Addressing those present, Rev. Father encouraged them to be united and get rid of all hatred, enmity, and selfishness with the faith of resurrection in their hearts. He urged to love one another as Jesus Christ loved all.

As a blazing sun shines in the dark sky, the good news “Krisdos haryav i merelots” (“Christ is risen from the dead”) came which is changing the lives of humanity for centuries.

Rev. Father conveyed good tidings of the miraculous Resurrection of Our Savior.

The faithful came to first hear the good news of Glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During the Divine Liturgy, The Diocesan Primate Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan congratulated the faithful on the occasion of the Glourios Resurrection, and wished Georgia and Armenia peace, progress, and development. The faithful congratulated each other on the occasion of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead.

The Diocesan Primate Rev. Father Archimandrite Kirakos Davtyan lit the candle from the Holy Altar which symbolizes the Divine Light of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The faithful lit their candles from the candle of the lantern and returned home with the blessing of Our Savior having the opportunity to bring the life-giving light of the Son of God to their homes.

Afterward, the first Home Blessing Service after the Feast of Resurrection of Jesus Christ was offered. Bread, water, and salt were blessed. A reception was organized in the churchyard.
