Alexander Khatisov: Documentary Film Screening

Documentary film screenings from the “Our Greats” series always attract great interest at the “Hayartun” Center of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia. The screenings are regularly organized with the blessing of Bishop His Grace Kirakos Davtyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia, and at the initiative of Yenok Tadevosyan, President of the Union of Armenian Intellectuals of Georgia.

On May 24, 2026, a documentary dedicated to Alexander Khatisov (Khatisian) was screened. The event was brought to life by the honorable presence and blessing of the Diocesan Primate,  His Grace Bishop Kirakos Davtyan himself.

Historian Yenok Tadevosyan delivered an engaging and insightful introduction, reflecting on the rugged paths of Armenian history. He highlighted the dedicated contributions of the Armenian community since their establishment in Georgia during the reign of King David the Builder. This presence, he noted, has always been marked by a lasting legacy of economic, architectural, and cultural development. The documentary's subject, Alexander Khatisov, who served as the Mayor of Tiflis (Tbilisi) for seven consecutive years, was renowned for his visionary governance. His leadership was defined by impactful initiatives and efforts, and significant achievements that brought lasting progress to the city and its residents.

The film also portrays Alexander Khatisov during his years of service in the newly established Republic of Armenia—a period marked by immense hardships and severe challenges.

Following the screening, the audience expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Diocesan Primate, the event organizers, and Grand Candy Company for making the evening possible. The screening of the "Our Greats" documentary series will continue to be hosted at the "Hayartun" Center.
