In 1774, Archimandrite Hovhannes is mentioned as the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia. (“Archive of Armenian History”, Book 8, part 2, 1767-1776, Art. Priest Gyut Agayants, 1908, Tbilisi, p. 266).
