VERY REVEREND FATHER HAKOB SAHAKYAN

Hayr Hakob

Very Reverend Father Hakob Sahakyan (baptismal name is Norayr) was born on January 6, 1982, in Small Pamach village in Akhaltsikhe, Georgia.

From 1988 to 1999, he studied at the secondary school of Small Pamach village in Akhaltsikhe, Georgia.

From 1999 to 2005, he studied at the Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin.

On July 1, 2005, Rev. Fr. Hakob was appointed to serve as a secretary at the Christian Education Center of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin.

On April 1, 2006, Rev. Fr. Sahakyan was appointed to serve at St. Gregory the Illuminator Mother Cathedral of Yerevan, Armenia.

From 2006 to 2008, Rev. Fr. Sahakyan served at the Armed Forces of republic of Armenia as the Chaplin.

On December 25, 2006, on the Feast of Saint Stephen the First Deacon, he was ordained as a deacon.

On December 27, 2006, Rev. Fr. Sahakyan defended his final thesis entitled “The Life and Creation of Khoren Stepanetsi.”

On January 1, 2009, Rev. Fr. Hakob was appointed to serve at the Postal Department of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin.

On July 19, 2009, upon blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, he was consecrated and ordained as a celibate priest and given the priestly name of Hakob.

On September 1, 2009, upon blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos, Rev. Fr. Sahakyan was appointed to serve at the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, under the authority and supervision of the Primate of the Diocese.

By the order of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakanyan, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, Rev. Fr. Hakob Sahakyan was serving as the Pastor of Armenian communities in Vale, Sazel, Oral, Gulalis, Small Pamach, Big Pamach villages of Akhaltsikhe and Adigeni regions.

On December 1, 2009, by the order of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakanyan, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, Rev. Fr. Hakob Sahakyan was appointed to serve as the supervisor in the Armenian communities in Marneuli, Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Tetri-Tsqaro and Kakheti, and as the coordinator at the “Hayartun” Cultural Educational and Youth Center of Tbilisi, Georgia.

On July 1, 2010, by the order of the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, Rev. Fr. Sahakyan was appointed to serve as the Spiritual Pastor at the Cathedral of Saint George in Tbilisi, meanwhile being the supervisor of the Youth Association of the Diocese.

On February 1, 2012, by the order of the order of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakanyan, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, he was appointed to serve as the Pastor of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Akhaltsikhe, as well as the Pastor of Borjomi, Aspindza, Adigeni, Abastumani, Akhaltsikhe regions.

On September 1, 2012, by the order of His Grace Bishop Vazgen Mirzakanyan, the Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Holy Church in Georgia, Rev. Fr. Hakob Sahakyan was appointed at the Vicariate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka as the Pastor of St. Gregory Illuminator Church of Akhaltsikhe under the authority and supervision of the Vicar General of the Vicariate of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Tsalka, Georgia.
